I spent 21 years serving as a firefighter/paramedic with the City of Vernon and Los Angeles County Fire. Over the course of my career, I experienced the cumulative effects of the job, including post-traumatic stress, on-the-job injuries, and struggles with alcohol and substance abuse.

Recognizing that I needed help, I spent three months in treatment at First Responders Malibu and went on to complete an Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP). Today, I continue to work on my recovery through a 12-step program, therapy, and spiritual awareness. Recovery has taught me that asking for help is a sign of strength and that healing is an ongoing journey.
